NuoDB’s Disruptive Technology Attracts Both VC And Customers

Game changer NuoDB offers business customers a faster, scalable product for cloud SQL database management featuring continuous availability, even if an entire data center goes down. Using emergent principles, NuoDB is able to handle high volumes of user clicks while handling high volumes of analytic queries at the same time. In fact, it can handle about one million transactions every second. Venture capitalists, such as Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and Longworth Venture Partners, realized the long-term potential for new cloud database architecture. It appears their gamble has paid off; NuoDB is attracting customers, such as AutoZone, UAE Exchange and Kodiak. Numerous technology-related media outlets have featured NuoDB, including Forbes, App Developer and NetworkWorld.

Barry Morris and Jim Starkey founded NuoDB in 2008. Starkey retired in 2012 and Morris is the company’s executive chairperson now; he focuses on customer relationships and product direction. NuoDB holds one patent on their innovative product, with five more patents pending.
