Dr, Vijay Eswaran is a charismatic man of many talents and skills. He has written several motivational books that have sold millions of copies worldwide, in different languages. He founded Q.I in the year 1998 in Malaysia. The company’s core business is direct selling using the multi-level marketing model. The model works using the referral system, whereby when one individual buys the products, he refers his friends to purchase and resell the products and earns commissions based on the value of goods sold. The network formed from this model ensures a reliable chain of distribution and direct selling that is fast and efficient.
His shareholding is estimated to be more than 70% of the total companies’ shareholding. Faced with steep competition, Q.I entered the direct selling frenzy a bit late. Although there were more established marketing firms in the industry, Dr. Vijay Eswaran did not lose hope, he took up the challenge starting with the selling of Sidney’s commemorative gold coins, his company took the third slot with sales. Q.I sells a variety of products ranging from jewelry, energy products, nutritional supplements, tours and travel, real estate, not forgetting leisure.
Through Q.I, Dr. Vijay Eswaran has interests in the fields of education, hospitality, health and fitness, and energy sectors. Forbes Asia lists his net worth to be $500 million inclusive of his impressive art collection. He is also a leading philanthropist through Q.I’s philanthropic foundation called Rhythm Foundation. In 2013 he was listed among Malaysia’s richest at no.25 according to Forbes Asian.
Dr. Vijay Eswaran holds a socio-economics degree from the London school of Economics and an MBA from Southern Illinois University.
